Motorola RAZR V3

I have a Motorola RAZR V3. It's pink. I got it in 2005 through a promotion with our cellular carrier. I wasn't really "needing" a new phone but I wanted a pink one and it was a fair price. It's much lighter in weight than my previous phone, a Samsung something-or-other. Overall, I'm fairly happy with it. Not thrilled but it's a cell phone and not high on my priorities list of sexy widgets to own.

My first cell phone was a bag phone. Remember those? Cell phones have come a loooong way since then, thankfully.

The Motorola RAZR does more than I really need in a cel phone. So much so, in fact, that I really am not that familiar with all the features it offers. I want my cell phone to make a call, sustain a call, hold my many phone numbers, and have high quality sound [both sending and receiving]. I realize that sustaining a call has much to do with the proximity of towers in my area and the strength of the signal.

The Motorola RAZR has had good sound and voice quality. I've been satisfied with this important feature.

I find it a bit awkward to hold in my hand for calls longer than a few minutes. The Motorola RAZR is Bluetooth compatible. I picked up a Motorola after-market ear widget shortly after getting the phone. The sound quality was not great. The ear bud was uncomfortable. I could never quite figure out how to answer the phone without the ear bud if I'd used the ear bud a short while earlier. I never quite figured out how to transfer from the ear bud to the phone itself and vice versa. Willing to concede that the problems may have been a result of user error. I gave up on it within a month or so. It was, however, easy to install the ear bud to the phone.

I carry quite a few numbers in my cel for work and personal calls. It's easy enough to add contacts. I wasn't able to transfer my SIM card from my old phone so I had to re-enter manually. That was a hassle but is to be expected, I guess. I've tried to edit some information for contacts and it becomes confusing. Adding contacts to the phone vs. the SIM card offers more detailed information inputs. I'd like to have the same level of detail for all my contacts yet I do not want to store the info to the phone. I'm assuming when I replace this phone - not sure when - that I'll be able to transfer contacts directly from my SIM card this time. So, I save all contacts to the SIM.

Some of the phone's tools - calculator, calendar, etc - are hidden pretty deep in the features/tools menu. They are difficult and cumbersome to access so I end up not using them when I need them. Not very user-friendly, unfortunately.

I dropped my RAZR about 6 months ago. It has had some strange screen issues intermittently ever since but still performs as well as when I purchased it. The battery has held up well, much to my surprise. It charges pretty quickly - maybe a couple of hours.

I've since realized there are features I *do* want in a cell phone that my Motorola RAZR V3 does not offer. I won't replace it with anothe one of the same model as a result. If I didn't need additional features, I would likely replace this RAZR with another RAZR. The Motorola RAZR V3 has done what I want it to do for the most part.
